Breakfast At Nightlife In Jomtien,

well early lunch really! but before that I had to pose with my new 100 baht sunglasses bought yesterday from Lukdod, mind the cables! Nightlife has it's own soi, named after the owner, Soi Howard!
the view along a nearly deserted Jomtien Beach road,
inside the restaurant open air, clean and spacious,
ample parking at the rear in what was at one time I think the paint ball park,
I walked straight across from Nightlife and had a look a long the beach, not a soul in sight,
in either direction,
the powers that be want to make this an international family tourist destination, with the amount of filth on the beach there is no way I would let my kids anywhere near the water, unless I did not care what ear, eye, throat, stomach infection they caught next, also go to any international resort and you have basic facilities, like changing rooms and toilets, I have been to a few toilets that cost 3-5 baht across the road from the beach, in your home town if the faculties were as dirty in your local shopping mall as they are here there would be a national outcry, never mind the law suites! if the city fathers want this to happen they have really got to look at other quality beach resorts, if I bought my kids here I am sure I would not be back if you look at the beaches in say the Mediterranean or Florida,
but for all of that we were not on the beach but enjoying spaghetti bolognaise and beef stew with 2 ice coffee's all for 390 baht, whilst eating Diana and myself had a game, counting the empty or fare carrying baht buses, score at the end of the meal? 37 with no customers, 33 with 1 or more fare paying customers, the most had 5 customers the majority with only 1 customer, may be a slight reduction in the number of baht buses in the low season would help save a bit of fuel?
we took the new road on the way back, not a soul to be seen,
over the slight hill and on the home stretch,
at the end of the road before the turning to soi 5 is this market on the right, quite large, but mainly selling fresh foods and household goods, but there is a clothes market next door (which was thankfully closed!)
further along this road is the big tree in the center of it with a shrine underneath it,
Diana wanted to buy some fruit on the way home,
there was lots to chose from with flowers as well,
and fresh vegetables,
I have never seen a market over here like this so clean and well organised,
so clean,
and with household goods as well,
this is the big tree with the shrine underneath it,
and this is the shrine, every time a bike or car goes past a honk on the horn is de rigueur,
and on the other side of the tree a spirit house,
and then it is out on the town!
all made up and ready to go,
back to the Bier Kitchen, for our evening meal chicken curry for Diana, steak and onions with boiled potatoes for me, 390 including a soda and water,
so many pretty lights,
but they hide a world of hurt, so few tourists are in town, the huge beer bar on the right as you walk into Living Dolls 1 has closed, it was I think an Irish themed bar, another dream lost forever,
after calling in to Grieg at Sisterz along with Fred, John Boy, Mike and Riza, we called into see Juu at Champions and bumped into Big Jim, then home for tea and medals, but first alcohol induce hunger had to be sated, so pizza for Diana,
which was just past the newly opened Coyotes,
by now the pizza was ready,
and then it was a chicken leg for me,
the streets were unusually quite, even for low season, but I guess the world economy is not helping, but enough doom and gloom, home to watch Sophon!

Hi Stan, As ever, throughly enjoying your Blog. Keep up the good work.

Looking at your Blog & photos, Pattaya & Jomtien seem so quiet at the moment. Almost like a ghost town! I guess what is worrying, is that with less tourist money coming in at the moment, this can mean an increase in localised crime, petty theft and tourists scams etc. The Thai's rely on farang money, and if there is less of it to go around .. Slightly worrying.

Who does Diana hang out with when you go out to the bars? Has she made friends with the bar girls and waitresses?

Dear Anonymous, glad you like the blog, I am amazed that so many take the time to read it as we just did it to save time sending e-mails to friends, to make it a little more interesting we then look for strange things in the newspapers, as for your observation you are 100% correct Pattaya is getting like a ghost by the day, scams are here as in every other tourist driven economy, as is street crime, I do not think that figures have official gone up, but factor in how many petty crimes go unreported and I would expect the figures to have risen over say the past year, as for us we have had one home intrusion, I always lock the front door but keep the keys in it in case there is a fire as all the windows have security screens on them, a thief melted the mosquito screen put his hand through it and unlocked the front door, I was playing on the computer he walked behind me and stole a cheap mobile phone and camera, as he left he made a noise I looked around to see him disappear out of the front door, next day a 4 camera CCTV system was fitted along with a monitored burglar alarm, and I now remove the keys from the door, it was just a random walk in which happens a lot out here, but over the past few months one friend of mine in the afternoon had his gold chain snatched on Sumkivit, I know you should not wear gold, but in all honesty it was such a small chain and it was broad daylight, also there have been a couple of walk-ins the same as mine that have happened to friends, luckily when Diana and myself go out we always get a motorcycle taxi home, which I think would deter most problems but going home late at night or early in the morning by yourself in this climate just might be tempting fate! best regards, Stan and Diana.

Dear Jil, Diana says Hi! to a couple of the waitresses but pretty much keeps to herself, also Precil or Riza sometimes call in at Sisterz or Champions so they have a chat, she spends more time on the computer chatting to her sisters and friends than in the bar, best regards, Stan and Diana.

That was one of the things that I enjoyed back at TQ2 with Epril... she made friends with so many of the girls there. Heck: There were some nights where Epril had more friends in the place then I did.

Dear Jil, we have not been to TQ 2 for some time now, as we only go out once a week we seldom see the same ladies from one week to the next in Sisterz, Diana seems to prefer to talk to the ladies in the pizza shop on the way home! best regards, Stan and Diana.
