I Have Always Been Led To Believe That The Police Forces Of The UK,

trained their drivers to be the best of the best,

but I may have to change that opinion if this report is typical of police drivers across the country, the example given was the record of  Staffordshire Police force, the transport/traffic accident report stated that 487 insurance  claims were made by Staffordshire Police in 2011/12, with 45 involving officers who crashed into the back of a car while 61 involved 'errors of misjudgement' on the road, but this is the bit that I thought was a bit strange, 48 insurance claims involving vehicles occurred in police station's car parks!

there is an official response of course, former Staffordshire Police Inspector Nigel Gunn said: 'if you look at the parking facilities at the new police headquarters in Stafford, then look at police stations like Hanley, Burslem or Newcastle - they were never built for significant numbers of cars, there's very limited space and a lot of vehicles trying to cram into that space, most police stations are in town centres and surrounded by double yellow lines, so there is nowhere else to put them,'

so there it is the spaces are too small, but I still would have thought that Staffordshire's finest could look at a space and decide it is too small to park in, I mean how would the officer get out of the car if he had to scrape his way along side the car next to him?
