During The Day We Popped Out To See How The Caterpillar Was Doing,

judging by the size of it the butterfly/moth is going to be huge,

when it goes through its metamorphosis,

 as usual,

it was munching its way through leaves,

then I noticed this, on one branch two types of leaf,

this is the leaf of a normal hibiscus,

but a little way down the branch this totally different leaf shape was coming out of it, it was a parasitic plant, taking sap from the hibiscus, I have seen many of these parasites at a distance, next time you look at a mango tree that has not been well looked after you will see a clump of these parasites having a free ride, but it was a change to see one up close, I think it is a Loranthus, one of the mistletoe family, but on the Asian branch of it,

in the afternoon for some reason I fancied watching The Odd Couple again with Diana, although we had seen it before it was so funny,

followed by Skyline, plenty of special effects and aliens galore, but a bit weak in the story department second time around, it also appears that there may be Skyline 2 in the making,

we watched The Revelation of the Pyramids next, we were totally captivated, the measurement of a meter was considered to have been invented 300 or so years ago, but this DVD offered compelling evidence that the builders of the pyramids used this measurement as we know it today,
take this crude diagram of mine, think of looking down from above the great pyramid at Giza, the blue square is exactly the known size of the base of the pyramid, in scale draw a imaginary circle inside the 4 corners, the red circle, then another outside, the yellow circle, take the circumference of the red circle and subtract it from the circumference of the yellow circle and you are left with a number, 299,792, pretty meaningless to most of us, but mention this number to any physicist in the world and he/she will tell you exactly what this number is the first 6 digits of the speed of light in kilometres per second! (it is actually 299,792.458 kilometres per second so the figure is remarkably close), coincidence or did the builders know? the whole DVD is packed with information like this, well worth buying and watching,

back to an old favorite, Waking the Dead, we watched two episode, first Undertow, a prisoner jailed for Benefit Fraud is about to be released, but he is suspected of killing again and again, can the team stop him even after he has killed as the team watches? next Cold Fusion, Spencer is put under the spotlight as his entry card is used one one night where files are changed in one building and another catches fire, but did he do either? by now it was late so we were off to bed.
