There Was Not Anything That We Found Interesting, Amusing Or Just Plain Weird,

in the news today,

so on to what is to become a very wet post, but first a quick look at our insectivorous plants, the pitcher plant seems to be growing well,

as does the Venus fly trap, we have put a couple of pieces of a grape near then to attract small fruit flies,

it seems to work as all of the plants seem to be growing,

having said that this one died back, but over the past week it has put out a couple of new traps,

the pitcher plant still reminds me of a triffid,

it seems to put out some sort of smell, if you look carefully a fly has landed on one of it pitchers,

although this pitcher is to small if it ventures into the pitcher next door it will be lunch,

although the painters have finished we decided to paint the ironwork gate and fences ourselves, so I popped along to a store that seems to have everything,

I bought a couple of meters of plastic sheeting to put on the ground when we start painting,

Diana spent the afternoon cleaning the house, so I played with my stamps,

till it was time to go to the weekend night market,

there were a few clouds about, but for the time we stayed at the market it did not rain, it was saving that for later!

 the sign still standing,

opposite the bar a stall selling it appears to be cosmetics, the price is plain to see,

 plenty of shoppers today,

even the pet aisle had some customers,

 sunset over the market,

just a few customers at the bar tonight,

it suddenly became very dark as some clouds came from inland,

Mr. Tony called in to see us, so we had a bite to eat and then left for home,

just after we arrived home the heavens opened,

after a couple of hours of rain the water was nearly in the house,

mercifully the rain stopped, but not before the whole of the street and our drive was underwater,

we are looking happy because the rain clouds have gone,

 hopefully that will be it,

but the forecast is for more rain over the next 2-3 days, in the 10 or so year I have been here it is only last year and this year that we have been flooded, I suspect that it is because of so much land being used for building the water can not soak into the ground, but who knows, we can only hope it does not happen again,

whilst it was raining we settled down to watch some more of the excellent Judge John Deed, making a start on series 4, we then said our goodbyes to Mr. Tony who waded to his car, luckily water had not risen enough to get inside it, but on his way home he called to say that the Sumkivitt Road was blocked because of the flooding, with that news we were off to bed.

Dear Grecian Ern, it is the rainy season out here so it monsoon time, the problem is that two storms are colliding in adjacent countries so some downpours are really heavy, I do not really think that global warming has affected this as it happenens every year, if you read the blog about this time last year we had 3 or 4 inches of water in the house, so far the water has not yet come in but there are flood warnings in place for the next few days, I must remember to cover my drink from the rain, I do not want watered down wine! best regards, Stan and Diana.
