We Were Out Early,

to call over to see Nick and Maureen,

 as we were going fishing,

we went to our usual place, the Mamak Fishing park,

it is off of Soi Nub Plan Wan, (spelt as it sounds), turn into the Soi from Sumkivitt, over the railway crossing and continue for a couple of miles, the road starts to go downhill, near the bottom of it you will see the road the fishing park is on the right hand side, follow that for a while, it twists and turns a bit and the fishing park is on the left next to a soccer ground,

 the parks card,

and map,

since our last visit all of the huts have been renewed,

naturally we chose the one with the hammock,

Nick was soon into the first fish,

and a nice size one it was too,

locally known as Plah Yisok, in Thai, บู่ทราย, (Labeo rohita),

they are great sport as for their size they put up a better than average fight, although considered a delicacy in India and Nepal for us we find that they have just too many small bones, so back he went,

Diana celebrated with an ice cream,

soda for myself, a beer for Nick and Maureen,

I then caught my first of the New Year,

what a beauty, it must have been all of three, no maybe four ounces, so back he went, and that was how we ended the day, a 1 all draw, for some reason the fish were not biting today, but the owner said that in the next few weeks he would be putting 500 kilos of new stock into the pool, so hopefully for us better luck next time, but even though we did not catch any keepers what a great way to spend the day, also if you do not have any fishing tackle there are rods for hire and bait to buy at the lake,

we then went back to Nick and Maureen's where we sat outside by the pool chatting away and eating our spring roll starters, followed inside by this chicken curry that Nick had prepared,

despite wearing a hat I had definitely caught the sun,

so eyes down for our evening meal which we followed with cheese and biscuits and ice cream,

after a break we were then on to the serious part of the evening, Monopoly, which as you can see from Diana's smile she won, after saying our farewells and thanks to Nick and Maureen we made our way home, we watched a couple of shows, The Hungry Sailors and Ade in Britain, a couple from Cheers, then for us we were off to bed.
