With Every One Going Green,

and buying bicycles,

few people have given much thought to the huge amount of energy and natural resources that goes into making a bicycle frame, digging up the iron ore, smelting it, forming it into tubes the weight of moving it all then painting it, all of this when there is a lightweight, pre-coloured natural product available to make the frame from, bamboo, of course this is not a new idea, the first one manufactured was exhibited in 1894, yes 110 years ago! at the London Stanley Cycle Show of 1894, the company was known as the Bamboo Cycle Co. Ltd, indeed the product was so popular it even received testimonial from (Lord) Edward Spencer Churchill,

so on to today, if you want to be really green and make your own bamboo bicycle, here is how you make one, firstly go to the site of exman,

seen here riding his bamboo bike, follow the instructions and you too could be helping to save the planet, of course you can buy ready made bamboo bikes, but think of the fun you will have making your own, also as a bonus many of us live near some bamboo so the materials could be found for free.
