We Were Out Shopping Today,

as it was bar-b-q night we fancied some scallops,

so off to Big C Extra on Central Road,

we parked the bike at the front of the store,

 and walked past the shrine,

in front of the store itself there is a small restaurant,

 an aquatic store,

 and a fish spa,

 but first stop,

 Swensens!

 mine, all mine!

the lure of the ice cream was too much, then on to the shopping, we bought a duck for our Sunday lunch and a pork chop for this evening, but the only scallops available were in packs of 5 or 6 medium sized pieces, but at well over 300 baht a pack we thought those a bit expensive as a starter,

always have a plan B Dave, so we called in at Foodland a little further up the road, but the same packs and prices there,

moving on to plan C we called in at friendship,

well they did have some scallops there but at 700 baht for twice as many, but for just a starter we decided to leave them, we had planned on scallops wrapped in bacon as our second course, but it was not to be, work seems to have slowed down next door,
the scaffolding now having been removed,

later in the afternoon we called in at a local market,

for some prawns to wrap in bacon instead of the scallops,

I took a few pictures of some of the nearby stalls,

and I recognised these fish from when I was working in the UK, commonly called the stripped Asian catfish (Mystus mysticetus), it was strange to see them as food rather than as pets,

but I did not know what these were called, but you can see them at almost every market over here,

 Diana bought some fresh mango's,

 and a couple of desserts,

a sort of jelly rolled in coconut flakes,

 this stall just sold desserts,

but I thought they might be a bit high on the sugar content so I decided not to buy any,

but we did buy some fresh pineapple, two of them to nibble on later,

the good thing is if you get hungry walking around markets like this there is always food to snack on like these sausages on a stick,

then home and light the fire,

 which soon took,

first on Diana's main course, one of the fish we caught on Thursday,

bacon wrapped prawns with my main course of a chop and a potato ready to go,

garlic bread as our starter, followed by the bacon wrapped prawns,

for the main course I had the pork chop, Diana had also bought some pork belly's and put them under the grill to make some nice crispy crackling,

for our dessert a real surprise,

Diana had made a crêpe mango covered with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with icing sugar, delicious! Barry from along the road called by for a glass or two, after he left we chatted the night away until it rained, then a swift move indoors to watch some cable television and we were then off to bed.
