The People Of Hudson Valley,

take Halloween very seriously,

so seriously it runs for 28 nights and features more than 5,000 individually hand-carved, illuminated jack o' lanterns,

in the last ten years the event has gone from a few nights in October to nearly the whole month and more, the event called The Blaze takes place on the grounds of Van Cortland Manor, giving the festivities a suitably spooky feel, and those who come for the carved pumpkins stay for the thrill of the Horseman's Hollow, a Sleepy Hollow themed haunted attraction, there will also be tumbling acrobats and circus characters, slithering ground snakes, a giant spider web, and a collection of shrunken Little Monsters, a working doomsday grandfather clock, not to mention that a giant sea serpent that will add some hiss to the Undersea Aquarium while comical, squash-eating Venus pumpkin traps sprout in the garden, Blaze's perennially popular Jurassic Park includes a triceratops, a pterodactyl, a brontosaurus, and a T-Rex, this event has almost everything, I wish I was there! tickets are priced at Adults, $20; Children 3-17, $16  (Saturdays $25, $20), but remember to book in advance as some evenings are already sold out, the event is held at Van Cortlandt Manor and is located on South Riverside Avenue off Route 9 in the village of Croton-on-Hudson, for details of how to get there have a look here.
