Day 11,

today we are off fishing,

on the frozen lake,

but to do that,

you first have to make a hole in the ice,

which is easier said than done,

I had a quick look at the tackle bucket,

nearly there,

and done, someone said to the guide regarding making the hole which was surprisingly hard, 'you make it look so easy', the guide replied, 'I have been doing this since I was 8 years old!',

time to drop the fish a line,

not the smallest fishing rod in the world, but surprisingly close,

so it was time to give the fish a chance to be dinner,

the guide had brought deerskin hides to sit on,

I decided to stand,

no luck yet,

some time later still no luck,

but I can see why they call it ice fishing, every time you pull your line out of the hole, ice forms on your line, the piece of ice getting bigger each time you pull the line out,

it was cold,

very cold, without the protection of the trees the wind chill was fierce as the wind whipped across the lake,

Diana decide to sit,

and then lay this one out,

well it was no surprise that we did not catch anything, like many freshwater fish I am guessing the lakes fish population has gone into semihibernation,

for our dinner we dined in the ice cave,

one of the rooms had tables laid,

with cheese, biscuits and pickles,

so eyes down,

and tuck in,

hat off first, it was getting strangely enough, rather hot with all of the thermal gear on,

out of the ice cave,

in the weak afternoon sun we went for a walk,

in the evening,

into the restaurant,

for our evening meal,

'Cheers!',

for dessert stewed pears with cream,

which looked and were delicious, and with the end of our meal it was home, a few games of cards, and we were then off to bed.
